Privacy Policy for Doom Saver
What the app collects, what this website collects, what neither of them does, and why.
Last updated: 31 August 2026
Doom Saver helps you see how long you spend in social apps by showing a timer on screen while you use them. This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not, and why.
Information stored only on your device
The following never leaves your phone. It is not uploaded, synced, or shared:
- How long you have spent in each tracked app today.
- A history of your sessions in tracked apps, kept for 90 days, which is what the Stats screen is worked out from.
- Which apps you have chosen to track.
- Which messages have already been shown, so they do not repeat.
- Any tasks you write, and whether you have ticked them off.
- Any phrases you write, and any built in phrases you have removed.
- A photo you choose for the mascot, if you choose one. Only a small square crop of it is saved, and it is used solely to draw the mascot's face on your own screen. There is no way to share or export it from the app, and it is never uploaded.
This information is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google, our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication) receives and stores your email address and a unique account identifier. We use this only to sign you in.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. This includes when the app is opened, when you sign in and by which method, when a time threshold is reached, and when a reminder message is shown. These events do not record which app you were using. Firebase Analytics also automatically collects standard technical information such as device model, operating system version, approximate region, and a randomly generated app instance identifier.
What we do not collect
- We do not see, read, record, or transmit the contents of your screen.
- We do not collect what you type, view, post, or search for.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or files.
- We do not record which apps you use. Your per app totals stay on your device.
- We do not sell your information to anyone.
About the permissions the app asks for
- Usage Access. Android grants this so the app can tell which app is currently in the foreground. It reveals only which app is open and when. It does not reveal anything about what is inside that app.
- Display over other apps. This lets the timer float on top of the app you are using. It does not read or capture what is underneath it.
- Photos. The app never asks for access to your photo library. Choosing a mascot photo uses Android's own photo picker, which hands the app the one image you picked and nothing else.
- Notifications. Android requires a visible ongoing notification while the app is monitoring in the background.
This website
The sections above describe the Doom Saver app. This section describes doomsaver.com, which is separate.
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. It sets cookies in your browser and collects standard web analytics information such as the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. We have turned off Google's advertising features, and IP addresses are shortened before being stored.
Analytics only runs if you agree to it. The first time you visit you are asked, and nothing is loaded unless you choose to allow it. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent. Your choice is remembered in your own browser, and you can change it at any time using the cookie choice link in the footer of any page.
The website does not have accounts, does not use advertising or tracking pixels from social networks, and does not sell anything directly. Nothing you do on this website is connected to your app account.
Purchases
Doom Saver Pro is sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment and tells the app only whether this Google account owns the purchase. We never see or store your payment details, card number or billing address. If you buy the yearly subscription it renews until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time in the Google Play app.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Analytics) to operate the app. Their handling of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under Account on the main screen. Deleting your account permanently removes your authentication record and erases the usage history stored on your device. This cannot be undone.
You can also request deletion by emailing doomsaver.support@gmail.com. On device information is removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings.
Step by step instructions are on the account deletion page.
Backup
Android's automatic backup may include the app's data, including your signed in state, in your Google account backup. You can control this in your device backup settings.
Children
Doom Saver is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
